Better than just lemonade—it’s an electrolyte!
This recipe is perfect for keeping you energized and hydrated. It’s especially helpful during labor when staying hydrated is essential, as plain water often isn’t enough. The combination of citrus and sea salt provides vital minerals that help your body absorb hydration at the cellular level.
Not only is it delicious and easy to make, but it’s also a great way to sneak in electrolytes for the kiddos. Everyone will love it! I recommend having at least one 8oz cup per day.
Homemade Electrolyte
INGREDIENTS:
1 lemon (use 3 lemons and omit lime and orange for pure lemonade)
1 lime
1 orange
1–3 tablespoons raw honey (adjust to taste)
1 cup filtered water + 1/8 teaspoon sea salt OR 1/2 cup filtered water + 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut water
Optional Add-Ins:
1/4 teaspoon turmeric + pinch of black pepper (for an anti-inflammatory boost)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine all ingredients in a blender or a large bottle. Blend or shake well until the honey is fully dissolved.
For a convenient option, pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze. Use 3–4 cubes in a glass of filtered water for added flavor and electrolytes.
To make a ready-to-drink batch, add 3 cups of filtered water to the mixture and store it in a pitcher in the fridge.
Notes:
Feel free to experiment with different citrus fruits like grapefruit for variety.
If you're in the Fourth Trimester or prefer warm beverages, skip the ice cubes and enjoy at room temperature or slightly warmed.
Garnish with fresh fruit slices and mint for an elegant touch when serving.
